Shut Down the Line 5 Pipeline

Shut Down the Line 5 Pipeline
The Issue
Line 5 is a 63-year-old pipeline that has had 15 known failures, spilling over 260,000 gallons of oil. Did you know that in 2011, Enbridge reported over 700 “crack features” along the pipeline?
Recently, the U.S. Coast Guard and Marine Pollution Control told Detroit Free Press reporter Keith Matheny, “If waves reach a height of three to five feet, it would effectively prevent them [from] going out on the water … and deploying the types of things that contain an oil spill and start to clean it up.”
This pipeline goes through the Great Lakes, as well as many rivers and lakes. Without question, Line 5 poses a major risk to our water, wildlife, and economy.
Join me in urging Michigan and Wisconsin leaders to immediately shut down Line 5 and protect the Great Lakes from a catastrophic oil spill.
