Shut down the Drayton Manor Zoo !
The Issue
Zoos are a cruel place to keep animals and the zoo at Drayton Manor has encaged many animals. Many of which seem to be in solitary confinement for no other reason than to ‘please the public’.
The zoo at Drayton manor has a Sumatran tiger enclosed in such a small cage. All she can do is pace around a small enclosure when her nature is to hunt and roam the jungles of Indonesia. This species of tigers may be endangered but keeping it in a small cage in the middle of Birmingham with people staring at and bothering her all day is despicable.
The cages in Drayton manor zoo are all so small and mostly empty and when you do see any sign of animal life they all seem depressed most likely due to the solitary confinement they all seem to be in or the fact that they cannot roam freely like they would in then wild.
People often forget that the reptiles also need room to roam yet they are crammed into tiny glass cages for people to bang on and stare at all day.
The life span of animals caged in zoos are significantly lower than those free in the wild.
This needs to change so I’m starting with Drayton Manor zoo as these animals have no peace due to all the noise from the rides and the public.
