Shut down Safari World for exploiting and torturing wild animals

At a zoo in Bangkok, Thailand, Orangutans are being forced to perform 'boxing' matches to amuse tourists.

An orang-utan mother would never surrender her baby and therefore most of these orang-utans will have been snatched from their mothers within a few days of their birth.

We share 97% of our DNA with this highly intelligent, perceptive and sentient species and therefore this kind of exploitation is surely having psychological effects on the orang-utans - (just as imprisonment, forced labour and abuse would on humans.)

Furthermore, Orangutans are arboreal, which means that they are adapted to a life swinging through the forest canopy - not hobbling painfully across concrete floors and surely crippling their feet.

Female orangutans are even forced to dress up in skimpy outfits and are made to act as ring girls.

A PETA spokesperson said 'When you see these animals performing what are uncomfortable and stressful tricks, know that they are not doing it because they want to, they are doing it because they are afraid to, often subjected to electric shocks, cigarette burns or beatings if they do not obey in training.'

Why should our 'cousins' be subjected to a life of misery and abuse because of our desire to watch animals 'boxing'?

This practice is inhumane, immoral and unacceptable.

Please sign this petition to tell Safari World that we will NOT allow some of our closest relatives to be exploited in this way.

Safari World must be shut down!
