The conditions in these puppy farms are deplorable. Dogs are cramped in small cages without adequate food, water, or medical care. They are deprived of social interaction, which is crucial for their mental wellbeing. The puppies they produce are usually sick, malnourished, and traumatized, destined to live short and painful lives or be sold to unsuspecting families who must then deal with health and behavioral problems.

It is time for the state government of NSW and Premier Chris Minns to take decisive action against these illegal operations. Stronger enforcement of existing laws is necessary, but more than that, we need legislation that better protects animals and ensures that those exploiting them face severe penalties.
