Shut Down Pornhub in Australia (for R*pe, s*x Trafficking, and Child Ab*se)

The issue

Pornhub has been proven to host illegal and non-consensual content, including sex trafficking, child abuse, and rape. Despite legal action and investigations exposing these crimes, the site still remains accessible in Australia, without age verification, allowing anyone, including children, to view this harmful material. By allowing Pornhub to continue operating, we are denying justice to victims whose abuse is exploited for profit, and perpetuating the cycle of misogyny, violence against women, and rape culture. Several states in America have already taken action against Pornhub, why is Australia still behind? Help me make a change by signing and sharing this petition to introduce legislature in the Australian Parliament that bans Pornhub on all devices. Join us to ensure that we protect communities, hold perpetrators accountable, take a stand against sexual violence, and serve justice to victims.

Facts

  1. 25+ lawsuits have been filed against Pornhub and it's parent company on behalf of nearly 300 victims, including class actions representing tens of thousands of child victims
  2. Pornhub was sued for $52 million in damages by 40 victims of GirlsDoPorn trafficking operation. The owner was Michael Pratt - a notorious sex trafficker that was on FBI's 10 most wanted. His content had remained up, even after victims requested it to be removed.
  3. Pornhub's content would only be reviewed if it was flagged 15 times. This resulted in a backlog of 705,425 videos that included illegal and non consensual content.
  4. A former moderator stated their job was to 'find weird excused to keep videos on our site'. There were only thirty moderators, moderating 800 to 2000 videos per shift on mute, guessing what videos appeared 'illegal' and who appeared 'of age'.
  5. The owner of Ethical Capital Partners (which owns Aylo and therefore Pornhub) is Solomon Friedman. He was a defense lawyer, who defended those accused of crimes such as sexual assault and possessing child pornography.

Australia should NOT support Aylo

Aylo (previously Mindgeek), is Pornhub's parent company. By allowing Pornhub to remain accessible in Australia, we are actively allowing it to profit from the illegal material it hosts. Australia has a responsibility to not support or enable this content.

A 2021 lawsuit was filed against Mindgeek on behalf of over 30 victims of child pornography, rape, and sex trafficking. (Read more here - mindgeeklitigation.com). This lawsuit exposed multiple illegal acts that Aylo had allegedly engaged in.

This includes that "Mindgeek intentionally elected to not employ any effective monitoring of what was being uploaded, or process for removing content that was exploitive and illegal. To the contrary, in the rare instance where the defendants were forced to remove content from their platform, whistleblowers have confirmed that they subsequently would reupload the content to their platform."

Furthermore, it states "Mindgeek purchased trafficked content in bulk", and that their servers are "likely the largest non-regulatory repository of CSAM/ child pornography in North America".
