The story I'm about to share is deeply personal and heartbreaking. On October 8, 2024, I purchased a baby kitten from a local business. Tragically, just 10 days later on October 18, my baby kitten passed away. The business blatantly lied about my kitten's age. I found out they had given me the kitten at less than four weeks old, considerably younger than the legal adoption age of eight weeks. Even worse, my kitten started showing familiar signs of sickness right after I brought him home.

Unjust practices like these are potentially occurring all across the country. Thousands of animals are being seriously harmed due to early separations, mistreatment, and dishonesty. It is a violation of animal rights, and the pain and suffering that ensues is unbearable.

Numerous studies show the importance of kittens remaining with their mother until at least eight weeks of age. The consequences of early separation can range from inappropriate elimination habits to aggressive behavior and serious health problems.

This outrageous deception and illegal activity needs to come to an end. Businesses involved in such practices should be held accountable for pushing both the animals and their new owners into unnecessary pain and suffering.
