Shut down Nevada Canine Training Facility
The Issue
I am reaching out to express deep concern about the recent opening of the Nevada Canine Training Facility located at 7331 W. Lake Mead Boulevard, the former site of the notorious Working Dogs of Nevada. This facility was previously shut down following a comprehensive investigation into its abusive practices towards animals. Allowing it to reopen under a new guise represents a grave threat not only to the animals that will be trained there but also to our community as a whole.
The abuses documented at this location were horrifying. Reports from the previous investigation revealed instances of physical abuse, neglect, and inhumane treatment of the dogs that were supposed to be cared for. The reopening of this facility is a rebranding attempt to mask its shameful past, and it once again places defenceless animals in jeopardy.
We have a responsibility to ensure the safety and well-being of the animals in our community. Allowing a facility with a history of cruelty to operate under a different name is not the solution; a leopard does not change its spots, and the continuation of such operations cannot be tolerated.
To address this urgent issue, we call upon local authorities, government agencies, and animal welfare organizations to take swift action. Inspections from independent animal welfare organizations should be mandated to assess the conditions and practices of this facility. Moreover, until it can be demonstrated that the practices have significantly changed and can be independently verified as humane, the facility should remain closed.
The safety, dignity, and welfare of these animals depend on our actions. We must not allow history to repeat itself, placing innocent lives at risk. By signing this petition, we are taking a stand against animal cruelty and demanding accountability from those in power.
