As the President of the Residents’ Association, I am deeply concerned for the wellbeing of my community in Aathikatuvillai, Grace Nagar, Tamil Nadu. Our lives have been negatively impacted by an illegal poultry farm located in Grace Nagar, Aathikatuvillai, Nagercoil. This unauthorized and unregulated operation is not only a blatant disregard for the law but a severe threat to public health and the environment.

Despite our persistent efforts and numerous complaints to the relevant authorities, including a direct meeting with the Collector, there has been no tangible action taken to address this issue. The poultry farm continues to operate without the required approvals and standards, spreading pollution and unhygienic conditions across our neighborhood. The resulting environmental hazards are causing significant health problems among residents, including respiratory issues and infections.

Scientific studies have shown that poorly managed poultry farms can lead to substantial detrimental impacts on a community’s health, air, and water quality. According to the World Health Organization, pollutants from such operations can trigger respiratory diseases and contribute to long-term health complications.

We cannot allow this situation to persist. I urge the Collector, the Block Development Officer (BDO), and other local authorities to enforce the law and shut down this illegal operation immediately. Our community’s health and environment must be prioritized over unregulated business interests.

Immediate action is required to safeguard the lives of our families and children, and to restore peace to our neighborhood.
