Shut Down Hoffman Animal Shelter for Inhumane Practices

The Issue

I am writing this petition out of deep concern and personal experience with Hoffman Animal Kill Shelter in Delmont, Westmoreland County. Dogs that get lost aren't given enough time to be reunited with their owners. The shelter has a phone line that isn't manned 24/7, forcing concerned pet owners to leave messages that usually go unanswered. Worse still, dogs are euthanized within just three days without any notification or opportunity for the owner to claim them.

This practice is not only heartless but also against the principles of animal welfare and respect for life. It's a dreadful reality that many residents of Fayette County, PA have had to face when their pets go missing.

According to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA), approximately 670,000 shelter dogs are euthanized each year in America. However, shelters should provide ample time and effort towards reuniting lost pets with their owners before considering euthanasia as an option.

Hoffman Animal Kill Shelter's practices need immediate attention and action from our local authorities. We demand transparency in their operations and humane treatment towards all animals under their care.

Please join me in calling on our local government officials to shut down Hoffman Animal Kill Shelter until they can guarantee ethical practices consistent with animal welfare standards. Your signature can make a difference in saving innocent lives and preventing more heartbreaks among pet owners like us who love our pets dearly. Sign this petition today!
