I am writing this petition to bring attention to the critical situation at Hallmark Youth Care where I once worked. During my time there, I witnessed firsthand the abusive and unsafe environment in which children are unfortunately placed. It pains me to say that these issues are systemic and include abuse from staff members, serious safety concerns, and alarming health risks. Perhaps most distressingly, sexual assault incidents were also prevalent.

Additionally, basic needs were used as leverage against the children, creating an atmosphere of fear and coercion. Staff members, who are meant to care for and protect the young people, repeatedly failed in this duty by not intervening in brewing conflicts. They were aware when fights would break out but often chose not to prevent them, leading to further chaos and trauma for the residents.

This is not just my personal account; it is a pattern acknowledged by many ex-employees and residents who have bravely shared their stories. The conditions these children endure are unacceptable and should not be tolerated any longer. It's crucial that we act now to ensure the safety, well-being, and dignity of every child.

The goal of this petition is to call upon the relevant authorities to thoroughly investigate Hallmark Youth Care and take immediate action to shut it down if these gross violations of care standards are confirmed. This facility is supposed to be a safe haven for vulnerable children, not a place where they face further harm.
