Shut Down Glovo Nigeria’s Operations Due to Deceptive Practices

The Issue

Thousands of Nigerians, including the elderly, low-income families, and busy professionals, have fallen prey to Glovo's deliberate and exploitative tactics, suffering financial losses and hunger. The company systematically takes payment for food orders, only to falsely claim that orders cannot be created, denying customers their purchased meals. This blatant deception leaves customers stranded, financially exploited, and without explanation or resolution. Many remain unpaid even after months, exacerbating financial hardship. Glovo's lack of functional customer care, with no phone number, email, or support team, ensures victims have no recourse, perpetuating the cycle of exploitation.

If Glovo's operations are not shut down, more consumers will continue to suffer financial losses and frustration. The company's actions undermine trust in online services and harm Nigeria's growing digital economy. The most vulnerable, including low-income families and individuals, will continue to be exploited, leading to hunger, malnutrition, and increased poverty.

Furthermore, it's crucial to note that Glovo's Spanish owner would never dare exploit consumers in his home country with such disregard. Instead, he takes advantage of Nigerian consumers, assuming he can operate with impunity in Nigeria. We won't tolerate this double standard.

To protect Nigerian consumers and hold Glovo accountable for their deceptive practices, we demand that Glovo's operations in Nigeria be shut down immediately, and that the following actions be taken by the relevant authorities:

  1. Launch a thorough investigation into Glovo's deceptive practices
  2. Freeze Glovo's Nigerian assets and accounts
  3. Ensure refunds for all customers affected by Glovo's deceptive practices
  4. Delete Glovo's app from Apple App Store and Google Play Store
  5. Shut down Glovo's servers to disable existing app usage
  6. Block all Glovo-related transactions through financial institutions and payment gateways
  7. Pursue legal action against Glovo
