Dangerous conditions have often prompted the closure of schools to ensure the safety of students, staff members, and their families. Although schools are considered a safe place for education and social formation, they can also become risk zones during severe weather conditions. In the case of Fulton County Schools, we are requesting a proactive measure in anticipation of icy conditions forecasted for January 23, 2025. According to the National Weather Service, icy conditions significantly increase the risk of car accidents, especially in areas not typically accustomed to such conditions (National Weather Service). This closure will not only ensure safety but also allow time for Fulton County to effectively manage icy conditions on the roads. We urge the relevant authorities to prioritize safety over convenience during these foreseen circumstances.
