We wanted to introduce the idea of Sonoraville High School giving out band cords for graduation. Every band member completes their pathway half way through their sophomore year, meaning that by their senior year they have completed this pathway about three times.  We have put in countless hours of practice year around in both marching and concert bands. We have done research and have found that many high schools give cords at senior honors night for instrumental arts. For example, we know that Cass High School provides both cords and medals. The medals are given to students who have been in a leadership position within the band. We are aware that there will be a cost associated with these cords and medals, and we are willing to pay a fee in order to receive this honor for graduation. We have been trying to achieve this goal for about two years and were just now being directed towards who to take the idea to. Our band director approves of this idea, so all we need now is approval of a higher authority. Please sign if you agree that students that have completed at least three semesters of band should receive a cord and students that have held a leadership position should receive a medal for graduation.
