One post is in media, showing very small number of people as Vegetarians but the facts are different.
Wrong statistical data is given by these agencies, wrong surveys are conducted by drafting/asking the wrong questions to the sample population selected by them.
So, if someone eats NonVeg once in a while or has eaten NonVeg once in life time, these survey agencies are treating them as Non-vegetarians. The media is also either publishing without going into details or they are part of the overall interested campaign against the Vegetarians.
There is no statistics available with the census authorities and Government of India to authenticate the numbers.
If there was such a large number of NonVeg population then you would have found large number of NonVeg supplies shops than the shops selling Vegetarian products. Then there would have been more people growing/producing NonVeg products than the Agriculturist.
In India, most of the NonVeg people are occasional, most of them eat NonVeg once in a Week or fortnight or more duration, they don't eat NonVeg during festivals and on various occasions, their full meal doesn't comprise of NonVeg only but it is one dish only.
If an example is to be given: if you take above numbers, then a person eats one meal in a week which is NonVeg, he eats 21 times in a Week ( Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner ), so that person eats NonVeg once out of 21 times, that means he eats 20 times vegetarian food only. Secondly, he eats one dish which is NonVeg out of the full meal, can we say it is max. 1/3 of the full meal, the ratio will be 1/21*1/3 = 1/63, that means in totality we can say that out of 63 portions of meals he is eating 62 portions which are vegetarian only, so his main food is Vegetarian only i.e. he is Vegetarian only and if at all, maximum he can be called as occasional NonVeg person.
So, we can safely say that based on food habits as explained above, we can conclude that more than 90% of Indians are Vegetarians only. This proves that the statistics published by interested lobbies is wrong, which is published to misguide everyone and people at large.
