Petitioning Shri. D. V. Sadananda Gowda, Union Railway Minister, Government of India.

Implement the much delayed Suburban Rail for Bengaluru on top priority.

Bengaluru is presently the only large city that does not have a suburban rail system that connects it with outlying suburbs and towns. Bengaluru's roads are grid-locked throughout the day and its traffic jams has earned it the sobriquet "Jamaluru". With roads fully choked and getting worse each passing day, the commuting public has been forced to endure severe hardships for daily traveling by buses or other road transport. Suburban rail is therefore a very urgent necessity. Bengaluru Suburban Rail Service will help all sections of the society incluidng poor and middle class sections who live and work in Bengaluru and its surrounding towns/suburbs of Mandya, Ramanagaram, Bidadi, Kengeri, Tumkur, Nelamangala, Yelahanka, Devenahalli, Chikkaballapur, Doddaballapur, Whitefield, Malur, Bangarpet, Anekal and Hosur.

Lot of projects are being planned which cost a lot but dont deliver proportionate returns in terms of affordability and benefits to people served. Commuter/Suburban rail is one that gives the most benefit per person for the money invested. Consider that 400kms of travel can be enabled in a short span of 2 years with minimum construction related disruption including respiratory illnesses arising from dust and pollution.
