Show your support to allow children’s play equipment and treehouses in Hanover township

The Issue

Summary:
The Hanover township board will soon be reviewing the policy on children’s play equipment (under 200 square feet) and treehouses. We need your support to show you are in favor of allowing these for any child who has or wants to have one in their own yard!

Backstory:
During the quarantine when local parks were closed my husband built a play house (see picture above) in our backyard for our kids (2 and 4 years old) to play in and enjoy. We were recently issued a violation for this due to a neighbors complaint. Our play house is set on the far opposite side of the property, color matched to the trunk of the trees so it wouldn't be an eye sore. The policy has since been determined to be unclear and is under review for interpretation. The board will be reviewing this policy at an upcoming meeting. I want to rally the families of Hanover township together to allow all of our voices to be heard. Children deserve a safe space to play in their backyards, especially during these trying and uncertain times. Please sign this petition to show your support for children’s play equipment and treehouses in Hanover Township.

Policy, quoted from our towns guidelines:
"166-136.1 Outdoor recreational facilities accessory to single family dwellings. Outdoor recreational facilities accessory to single-family dwellings on the same lot shall be permitted and shall be subject to the following requirements. For purposes of this section, "outdoor recreational facilities" shall be defined as including, but not limited to, swimming pools, game or sport courts, and similar facilities, but shall exclude children's play equipment that occupies less than 200 square feet of lot area, treehouses and any facility or activity prohibited by Chapter 129 of the Township Code.”
