In Hamilton, the Waterfall Capital of the World, our farmlands including our Greenbelt lands are at risk. Despite immense support from the public and from Hamilton City Council to protect these areas, the provincial government overruled the decision in November 2022. Now, 5,400 acres of natural land and 1,400 acres of the Greenbelt are set to be sacrificed for suburban development. Stop Sprawl Hamilton is fighting to save these areas including valuable farmland, biodiversity hotspots, and natural heritage sites in Hamilton, and they need help from you.

Extending suburban developments (i.e. roads, housing, and commercial buildings) onto our once-protected greenspaces is an irreversible change that destroys ecosystems, including animal habitats and the natural landscape.
