The Broome County Industrial Development Agency (IDA) is supposed to play a critical role in fostering economic development within our community. However, the current leadership under Executive Director Stacey Duncan has led to growing concerns about the efficiency and transparency of the agency's operations. This petition seeks to demonstrate a vote of no confidence in Duncan's leadership, urging the stakeholders and relevant authorities to consider a change that prioritizes the needs and expectations of Broome County residents.

Under Duncan's tenure, there have been several contentious projects that have sparked public outcry due to questionable decision-making processes and lack of community engagement. Reports have surfaced regarding insufficient oversight and accountability in how development funds are allocated and managed, further eroding public trust. Past development incentives have seemed to favor external entities over local businesses, leaving community members feeling neglected and their economic prospects dimmed. Most recently, the New York State Authorities Budget Office accusation of misusing funds by Duncan and BCIDA Operations Director Natalie Abbadessa.  

Moreover, despite multiple calls for transparency, the Broome County IDA has consistently fallen short in providing clear and accessible information about its projects, specifically the pending Broome Technology Park project, and financial undertakings. This lack of transparency has fueled speculation and concern among the residents who deserve to know how their community's future is being planned and executed.

For Broome County to thrive and its development projects to genuinely reflect the needs of its people, a leadership change is needed. A new Executive Director must be someone who can not only drive progress but also rebuild trust through open communication and a commitment to prioritizing local interests.
