Hello,

First off, thank you for all of your support. I am happy to report that the neighbor, whose house is directly adjacent to mine, got rid of his roosters — for that, I am incredibly grateful. I believe that the public pressure made all of the difference, and you all were a part of that. So, again, thank you.

Quick back story: I had a birthday party/housewarming back in April for our puppy's first birthday. At that event, most attendees commented on the continuous rooster noises, shocked that I hadn't lost my mind, which inspired me to make the final push to solve the problem.

Some residents have contacted me about similar issues involving roosters; I plan on supporting those residents the best way I can. Part of that support will be continuing to politely pressure the town government to enforce current ordinances or legislate new laws to protect homeowners.

As for the recent articles and public comments, I appreciated the support I received. I also discovered that the naysayers weren't actually reading the articles or watching the videos I had made public on my Facebook post (their responses, which they were entitled to make made that clear). Barking dogs can certainly be annoying, but I have never experienced a dog that can bark 14 hours per day with no more than 30-minute breaks. And although leaf blowers are annoying, it is not the same game — it's not even the same sport. A leaf blower does not run every day (next door), and I'll take a humming sound over the piercing rooster noise seven days per week.

Think about it this way: why would someone go to such extreme measures to solve this issue? Public meetings, police, health and zoning departments, and front-page news — think about how unbelievably intolerable a problem would have to be for someone to take such drastic action. Ponder those points — and that should clarify any confusion or skepticism about my public pleas.

Bottom line: we all have different tolerances for what's annoying. Some might revel in the sound of roosters crowing like I enjoy the quacking of ducks, but enjoying a familiar noise for a few minutes per day is different than being forced to listen to that sound perpetually. That being said, when my chicken-owning friends watched and listened to the videos I posted of the rooster noises, they understood my frustration and supported me (after initially pushing back).

As soon as I have another update, I will post again!
