As a long time resident of Kingsville, I have witnessed the transformation of our traditional neighbourhoods into commercial ventures due to the proliferation of short term rentals.  This issue has eroded affordable housing and altered the character of our community.  In some neighbourhoods and especially along Lake Erie homes are becoming "pseudo hotels" which violates zoning by-laws. Our Municipal Council has been slow in addressing this issue, leaving residents to deal with noise, trash, and parking problems often associated with these rentals.

The time for action is now. We need regulations that protect our neighbourhoods from becoming commercialized enterprises at the detriment of long term residents like myself.  According to Statistics Canada, Ontario has seen a significant increase in short term rentals over recent years which has impacted housing affordability (source: Statistics Canada).  In Kingsville, this trend not only threatens our sense of community but also public safety.

As a home owner I am not opposed to owner occupied short term rentals as this was the original intention for those seeking some additional income. I am only seeking that our Municipal Council address these issues and implement regulations.
