The Issue

Tire crashed through on play equipment in yard

We, the undersigned residents of Sherwood Park, respectfully request that the Alabama Department of Transportation (ALDOT) evaluate and implement sound mitigation measures along the roadway adjacent to our neighborhood and Research Park. As traffic levels continue to increase—driven by regional growth including the arrival of U.S. Space Command, the expansion of FBI operations, and the ongoing development on Redstone Arsenal—residents are experiencing heightened noise levels that affect comfort, property enjoyment, and overall quality of life. As well as safety issues when tires fly off vehicles and land in the backyards of residence. By signing below, residents indicate their support for formally requesting that ALDOT: 1. Conduct an evaluation of current noise conditions affecting Sherwood Park; 2. Consider and propose appropriate sound mitigation options, including but not limited to high-growth vegetation and sound walls; and 3. Collaborate with the Sherwood Park community in determining the most effective and feasible solution. Our goal is to present majority resident support—at least 51%—to demonstrate a strong, unified community interest in addressing this issue.
