Mr Floyd was an unarmed black man who died after a Minneapolis police officer kneeled on his neck for more than eight minutes as he told them "I can't breathe." Mr Floyd was apprehended by four police officers after a deli owner called 911 and accused him of buying cigarettes with a forged banknote. Protests at Mr Floyd’s death and the systemic racism it reflects have sprung up in cities around the globe, with citizens from Britain to Italy to Syria to Brazil showing solidarity with Mr Floyd and the Americans protesting his killing. Many have held up placards with the words “I can’t breathe” — some of the last words Mr Floyd spoke as Mr Chauvin knelt on him. After footage of Mr Floyd’s death was publicly circulated, all four officers involved were fired. Mr Chauvin was later arrested and charged with third-degree murder and second-degree manslaughter.
We stand in solidarity against racism and we want George Floyd's family to know that we support them.
Please note, some of the content you read you may find disturbing and I apologize in advance but we stand in solidarity with our sister, DeeAnn Fitzpatrick who has stood up against bullying, racism, physical and sexual harassment within her place of work.
A senior fishery officer with Marine Compliance was reported for saying the following:
- allowing ni**ers to have children is just allowing them to fu** up the human race and all ni**ers should be shot and hung. This officer has since got a promotion. While he attended a work's event with other more senior members of staff he was overheard calling the waitress who was black, a ni88er on several occasions because he was not getting his drink order quick enough.
America and Canada, you have it right. You don't sweep the incident under the rug and those responsible should be held accountable. Support us in this petition. You have a voice too.
