We are fighting to put a ban on cosmetic testing on animals. Cosmetics is a huge business here in the United States, and during our research we came to the realization that testing products on animals is not illegal. Each year, more than 100 million animals—including mice, rats, frogs, dogs, cats, rabbits, hamsters, guinea pigs, monkeys, fish, and birds—are killed in U.S. laboratories for cosmetic testing, along with food, drug, curiosity driven experiments and many more. H.R. 2293, Preventing Animal Cruelty and Torture (PACT) Act was introduced in the 114th Congress, but got no further. Pew Research Center poll have found that 50 percent of U.S. adults oppose the use of animals in research. The FDA does not require animal testing, but they also do not try and put an end to it. Alternative methods have proven to be less expensive than animal testing, which would allow the funding of other research projects be possible. A law should be made that bans animals testing for cosmetic purposes, and by signing this petition you would help us get one step closer to saving the lives of innocent animals.
