The Issue

Oregon Humane Society is a no-kill facility that takes in cats, dogs, rabbits, small cage animals, and even farm animals, which go to a different location for their needs to be meet. When a ferret does come into their facility they scream death wishes for it if a near by Ferret Shelter does not come and pick it up. They will not allow it to stay there any length of time which is not fair on the Ferret Shelters . Not having a ferret Vet on-site may be their reasoning, but, still they can contact a reliable ferret Vet in West Lynn, Oregon, if the ferret is sick. The Ferret Shelters get way too many unwanted ferrets that have either been abused and have severe health issues that may never get better which continually up their Vet bills without a chance of relief and catch up. Some ferrets are given up because of sudden life changes. Others get loose and are subject to the extreme weather conditions.  A ferret can not handle extreme hot condition and could get a heat stroke or freeze in chilly winter conditions and Oregon can be bitterly cold and rainy. Without a shelter to go to and food they will not survive very long. I could go with some really sad stories of the ill-treatment ferret endure but that is not my point here. I want the Oregon Humane Society which gets ample funding and Ferrets Shelters are not as fortunate, to help out the Ferret Shelters and corporate with them and start taking ferrets in as a No-Kill animal and take some of the pressure off of the Ferret Shelters.. It is only right and since the ferrets can not speak for themselves someone has too. Please help me change this policy Oregon Humane Society has and open the doors for our ferrets to help out the Ferret Shelters. Please sign this petition everyone and Thank You.
