The new break and lunch times are a problem for every year throughout the school.

For everyone in the school from year 11 and below, the new shortened lunch time makes purchasing food from the hot canteen and even the cold canteen more of a struggle than it was already. For the hot canteen, people will have to move in and move out a lot quicker than they already had to, meaning the students will have even less time to finish their lunch and may cause them to waste food or not eat. For the cold canteen, more people will be rushing there quickly so that they have time to eat and this will cause bigger queues and encourages more people to jump the queue.

For year 12 and 13 students, there is a lot less time for them to go out and buy food from places that aren't the school, meaning they might not be able to eat or spend even more money on food from the school which they may not be able to afford. They will typically spend there lunch walking over to Westcroft and purchasing lunch from stores in the district such as; McDonalds, KFC, Aldi, Poundland, Greggs or Morrison’s a quick entry on Google Maps Will tell you that it takes 13 minutes alone to just walk there and another 13 minutes to walk back. That’s 26 Minutes in total, that now leaves students 10 minutes to find the food and drinks they are looking for, to compare the food and drinks so they will get the best price for there money, to wait in long lunch time queues and then to start and finish eating there lunch. Clearly it isn’t practical whatsoever and not every student is able to take the the time in the mornings to make there own lunch.

For everyone in the year, including teachers, there is a lot less time for clubs at lunch time, for example, the music groups that meet to play at lunch times, such as the percussion band and the wind band, have a lot less time to practice their pieces and play their instruments meaning they may not be able to get the pieces up to the standards they used to be able to before.

Fights were becoming a big a problem in Shenley Brook End School, and reducing the lunch time to prevent boredom will just increase the break time, meaning people may be driven into fights in both break time and lunch time, instead of mainly lunch time. As well as this, a lot of the fights at lunch time weren't towards the end of lunch time, they all happened at any time throughout lunch, showing that the length of lunch time may not have been the problem.
