Beautiful Shelter Island has a 150 year history of summer renting and a strong tourism industry. Renting is an part of the island's thriving cottage industry. Why is the incompetent, overreaching town board enforcing your rental with an unconstitutional law that includes thousands of dollars in fines and jail time? Yes, for renting your home, which you own, and of which you pay taxes - and by the way - your taxes pay to enforce you and pay the salary of the new full time enforcement agent and part time clerk. Had enough? VOTE Peter Reich for Town Supervisor this November (it's a write in campaign). Gerry Siller is against renting your home, and wants to spend your tax dollars to enforce you.
What else can you do?
