On our tax bill, there are some glaring accounting events that concern us. The following percentages are an INCREASE over last year's tax bill.

Erroneous town tax is up 75.9%
Library is up 4.5%
Highway Department is up 10.22%
MTA tax is up 5.3%

So, how does this work, exactly?

The Shelter Island Town Board has raised your property taxes over 8%, they do not want you to rent your home (making it restrictive with incredibly draconian regulations), they do not honor your property rights, and they are increasing the employee head count of this tiny town with full time enforcement to police you + spyware to track your rentals online - which YOU PAY FOR!

DO NOT REGISTER FOR A STR LICENSE! DO NOT COMPLY WITH GYM COLLIGAN'S ANTI PROPERTY RIGHTS INITIATIVE!

REPEAL THE STR LAW - DO NOT STAND FOR A TOWN BOARD THAT WANTS TO VIOLATE YOUR PROPERTY RIGHTS! THEY WANT YOU TO PAY TO ENFORCE YOURSELF!
