Muffy and Buffy were hopping mad! Demanded that the law was NOT STRICT ENOUGH and MORE ENFORCEMENT WAS NEEDED IMMEDIATELY and STR SIGNAGE WAS WRONG ON THEIR STREET! SO many of Shelter Island's cranky, nasty, retired, elitists - screaming and squawking, cussing, and fighting. I knew many of them - and it's also known that their Daddy gave them their house(s) on the island in the last forty years. These people don't understand the importance of tourism to sleepy Shelter Island - a place with no other industry than welcoming seasonal visitors. They are enraged - and disrespect every person on this island who works so hard in the summer - your waitress, plumber, contractor, cafe owner,pool serviceperson, fisherman/woman), rental homeowner, landscaper, housewatcher, housekeeper. What planet are these people on? DO NOT APPLY FOR AN STR LICENSE! DO NOT RENEW YOUR STR LICENSE! Big thanks to the 9K in donations to the legal fund that rolled in over Memorial Day weekend.
