Become a Friend of Shady Grove Park to save our neighborhood park!

We have recently become aware that Shady Grove Elementary is slated for closure and to be sold by the Shelby County Schools in the coming year. The Sycamore Grove side of the school site contains a well used neighborhood park.  The community surrounding the school wants to continue to have access to the park in the event that the school is sold.

The City of Memphis recently adopted a Park Master Plan.  Unfortunately, the City of Memphis Park Services 2020 Master Plan doesn't include park space or recreational opportunities for the neighborhood bound by Walnut Grove, White Station, Poplar and I-240.

We are asking that either:

- the Shelby County Board of Commissioners acquire the park portion of the Shady Grove Elementary School site from the Shelby County Schools or

-a long term use agreement and maintenance agreement with Shelby County Schools is signed with the Friends of Shady Grove Park.

In either scenario, the Friends of Shady Grove Park Foundation will raise funds to improve the park and maintain the grounds. Sign our petition to show our Shelby County Commissioners and the Shelby County School Board that you support saving Shady Grove Park!
