Meatless Mondays

Meatless Mondays
Why this petition matters

Dear students and staff of Sheffield Hallam University
We need your help to start the Meatless Mondays movement within all campuses at our university.
Meatless Monday is a science-based public health initiative associated with Johns Hopkins University Bloomberg School of Public Health. Its goal is to reduce chronic preventable diseases by encouraging less consumption of meat.
Not only will this provide healthier choices when eating, the health of the planet needs to be improved drastically before the effects of Climate Change ruin any chance of us being able to make a change at all.
By adopting Meatless Monday, we can:
Demonstrate industry leadership. We’ll join hundreds of other forward-thinking foodservice operations and universities that are guiding the UK towards a healthier, more sustainable food system.
Promote healthy habits. With Monday being the start to our week, choosing not to eat meat on a Monday can start our week off on a better foot, inspiring individuals to carry on with this healthy habit for the days that follow.
Reduce environmental impact. Decreasing meat consumption just one day a week results in a significant reduction to our individual carbon footprints. In turn, this reduces the effects of Climate Change on an international scale.
“One to change a few. A few to change many. Many to change the world. Starts with one”
We hope you’ll support us in this effort. Be the change you want to see in the world!!!
With Gratitude
