As a member of Sheffield litter pickers , and s20/s21 litter pickers group , I have seen and been apart of moving hundreds of bags of rubbish / fly tipping in my local area. This rubbish and fly tipping is then reported to the council or on 'fix my street' app , having the council to drive around Sheffield collecting the weekly litter picking hauds.

Sheffield in itself has an enormous fly tipping / litter problem , and it is a never ending task for the council ,and for volunteers to keep on top of. 

I am from the Westfield area of Sheffield myself , and over the few months I have been volunteering to clean up the area , there is just a never ending amount of rubbish and fly tipping. There is no excuse to fly tip , but after having a few conversations with local residents , I believe a lot of the fly tipping comes from low income households , who cannot afford to pay someone to take their household things away , and they do not own a car , therefore , in their eyes the fly tipping is the only resolution for this. 

I have had quite a lot of good feedback on the old 'bring out your rubbish' days , and how this helped many households in Sheffield , and also how it helped highly reduce fly tipping and littering of local areas. When this service got took away , fly tipping and littering in the area seemed to escalate. 

With the amount of fly tipping that is happening ( especially now due to covid and not wanting to qué at recycling centres) , I believe having a designated 'bring out your rubbish' days , could be more beneficial to communities , and compared to having to dig out fly tipping from bushes / country roads / river beds , be more cost effective in the long run. 

Something has to change , or be put in place , to help persuade the ones who do fly tip to stop, and at the moment , as recent TV programmes have shown , not much is in place to catch the perpetrators. 

To help this situation , I believe the result is in the prevention , giving these people another option , an easier option to pop it outside of their house , to get collected , legally , and safely , instead of being left to rot in the bottom of a stream or bush. 

In this petition , not only am I asking for the rubbish to be just bags of household waste , but any bulky items that may need discarding of, legally.
