Shagane Sigler is a Russian and Spanish teacher at Shawnee Mission North High School. In past years, she’s known to neglect her students in the classroom and refuse to protect them from psychical and sexual assault. 

Most recently, Mrs Sigler has brought up politics and other topics that aren’t appropriate for a school environment into her classrooms, including her dislike of the Black Lives Matter movement, as well as the Covid-19 vaccine and mask mandate currently in effect by the school board. No matter what your opinion on this topic is, I think we all can agree that these are not topics for impressionable teenagers. 

On a much more serious note, a student named Christopher Norman was in her 5th hour class. Around the beginning of September this year, a student named [Redacted] began to sexually assault Christopher by grabbing his buttocks in an inappropriate way. He immediately reported it to Shagane Sigler in hopes some action would be taken against [Redacted], but his call for help was to no avail, and Sigler ignored the entire situation.

[Redacted] also sent a very clear rape threat to Chris Norman, which will be posted on this petition.

This continued until October 6th when Norman decided to defend himself by hitting [Redacted] when [Redacted] attempted to grab Norman again, and in proper Shawnee Mission North fashion, they suspended both of them, even when Chris was attempting to defend himself, all because Mrs Sigler neglected Christopher.

She also told Christopher during these events that “Men can’t be sexually assaulted.” THIS IS NOT HOW YOU TREAT STUDENTS.

Mrs Sigler has been a plague on North and the District for quite a few years and they’ve taken very little action against her. Now is the time.
