You may have seen my petition to change our national anthem to "This Land Is Your Land". I canceled it after I received some input from the Native American community.

Let's hold a contest to create a new national anthem that represents every community on American soil. There's millions of us, someone is bound to have the talent to create a brand new anthem we can all be proud of.

The Star Spangled Banner was written by a racist slave master, America the Beautiful and God Bless America have religious references so we can't use those, and now that I know This Land Is Your Land is offensive to another community, it's clear we need to create a new anthem. We're in the midst of a revolution. Change is happening because we're rising up and speaking out. It's time for a new anthem that represents real American values of all American communities. So let's demand our government allow a competition for song writers and poets to submit a new anthem and allow the American people to vote for the best one that represents this country. We live in a democracy, which gives us the right to vote to make changes. Vote to change our anthem. Sign the petition and let's make this change together. No more singing about bombs bursting in air. No more singing about war. Let's sing about America and the people who call it home.
