It’s that bad time of year for our most vulnerable four legged friends.  Shawn Reilly and his Rockland Boulders have again started their trauma causing fireworks  https://sports-teller.com/list-new-york-boulders-2023-fireworks-shows/  .  It’s also the season when the many (poly) blood sucking parasites (ticks) rear their ugly heads (poly ticks or politics). Be they 8 legged or 2 legged we must protect our 4 legged friends)

In my June 22, 2022 update here on change.org I wrote: “It has been one year since we started this petition explaining to #Shawn Reilly the Team President, GM and Managing Partner:   sreilly@rocklandboulders.com   (845-364-0009) how his Boulder's fireworks are torturing the neighboring animals at Hi Tor as well as upsetting Veterans and others with PTSD.  We are not asking to close the Stadium, or even to stop the fireworks; we are merely asking to switch to noiseless fireworks, drone shows, or another form of entertainment that would not distress the neighboring animals and people.  It should be a no-brainer. Instead Mr. Reilly has increased the number of firework shows and has been totally ignoring our phone calls, e-mails and letters.”  One year later, absolutely nothing has changed. You should contact him and show your displeasure.  He obviously doesn’t care that his fireworks are hurting the Hi-Tor animals, and people with PTSD or psychological problems (e.g. autism).  He would care if it hurts his profits.  People pay extra for those games with fireworks, instead they should be boycotted.

In that same update I wrote “The Rockland Green Waste Management Group is trying to take over Hi- Tor. #Howard T Philips Jr., the Chairman of that group, is the Supervisor of the Town of Haverstraw. supervisor@townofhaverstraw.org  (845-429-2200).  He is the only Rockland County Politician who totally ignores my e-mails and phone calls to help the animals at Hi Tor. It makes no sense.”  Last year he used our petition in his speeches and talks with the media for his agenda mentioning “a petition with 3000 signatures asking that Hi-Tor be moved.”  That was not the purpose of this petition. Last December Rockland County gave Rockland Green (the former Rockland County Solid Waste Management Authority) a lease of the Hi-Tor building for $1 annually for the next two years with the option of extending the lease till 2025. Rockland Green will also have a role in the animal management. Mr. Phillips wants to move Hi-Tor to a vacant warehouse at 427 Beach Road in his Town of Haverstraw. This property, which is said to be in a flood zone, is adjacent to a Joint Regional Sewage Treatment Plant and directly across from a site that a developer is proposing to build a 450,000 foot distribution trucking warehouse. Is this the best place for an animal shelter? Is it away from the fireworks and into the fire?  What is his agenda?  Does it include the best interest of the Hi-Tor animals?  We can’t imagine the horrors some of those poor babies were subject to before they came to Hi-Tor. I again wrote Mr. Phillips saying that even if Hi-Tor is moving it would take at least a couple of years to re-build the warehouse.  No reason those poor animals should be terrorized in the meantime with the ongoing fireworks, especially when it would be so easy for the Boulders to change their “entertainment” I asked him to talk to Mr. Reilly.   In that letter I said that perhaps he ignored me last year because he wasn’t in a position to help the animals, this year he is.  However he still ignored me.  Hopefully the animals at Hi-Tor will find a good forever home.  Till then we should try to make their lives a little less stressful.  Any suggestions?
