Recognition for SA Aboriginal operators in Tourism

I’m a proud Aboriginal man and local tourism business owner in Kangaroo Island, SA. I’m passionate about promoting our rich Indigenous history through storytelling that also revives our tourism industry after the horrific bushfires earlier this year.
The South Australian Aboriginal tourism industry offers a fascinating insight into Australia’s diverse First Nations people. Visitors can interact with descendants of a rich 40,000+ year old and experience the arts, sites, traditions, and foods.
In ‘November 2021’ Tourism Industry Council South Australia (TICSA) awarded ‘Best Aboriginal Tourism Operator’ to a non-Aboriginal led business.
We call on (TICSA) to be accountable for awarding a Non-Aboriginal led organisation this award. I’m calling for the ‘Best aboriginal Tourism’ award category only to be awarded to Aboriginal owned and led businesses to support self-determined endeavours.
