Open the 2020-2021 School Year Traditionally in Shasta County

Open the 2020-2021 School Year Traditionally in Shasta County
The Issue
In Shasta County we have 180,080 residents. We've had 36 cases of COVID 19 and four deaths for a local mortality rate of 0.00002222.
Despite large numbers at Redding's big box stores, underground Kool April Nights events, a 2,000 person Rodeo, and plenty of neighbor/friend socializing among residents, our community spread is still firmly under control and our hospitals are more than prepared to care for anyone who gets sick.
Sign this petition asking our local authorities to open our schools traditionally:
-No "Hybrid" Model with part time schooling
-No required masks for students or staff - their choice to wear
-No closed playgrounds or restricting socialization
-Allow a Distance Learning opportunity for those who wish to continue to do so
-Allow Teachers or Staff who are high risk or uncomfortable returning as usual to help facilitate the Distance Learning families.
"Hybrid" models leaves our kids with a part time education and further damages our economy for households where parents with young children will have to be home to care for them and homeschool them the days they aren't in session. This Hybrid model leaves tens of thousands of local parents in a lurch by not offering any support for what households with dual working parents or single parents are supposed to do particularly younger children who cannot be home alone and need one on one help with schooling. Older kids are not able to get the kind of education they get in school. Hybrid schedule is completely new just like Distance Learning and surely will be just as ineffective and stressful for parents and students alike.
Our students need full time, enriched learning and socialization as an important part of their development. They deserve nothing less!
