Zest is a new food experience coming to Marsh Harbour, Abaco. We have been creating Zest for more than nine months, overcoming many challenges, with many exciting moments as we have moved closer and closer to making Zest a reality. Tens of thousands of dollars, hundreds of hours, creative development and collaborating with local craftsmen, artists and the new Zest team have all gone into getting to where we are today.
Zest is the creation of Bahamian chef and entrepreneur Shay Russell. Shay has been formally trained, and has served in top restaurants in Canada, Abaco and Nassau. She is the driving force behind Zest, as she brings together her love for the people of Abaco and her passion for unforgettable food.
Zest will put a gourmet spin on great food in a fast and convenient take-away format, creating a unique culinary experience that you can enjoy every day. Food that is healthy, light, fresh, and made using ingredients from local farmers and suppliers.
Zest’s menu will include ceviches, authentic tacos, salads, sandwiches, homemade lemonades, as well as vegan options — all with a distinct Bahamian flavour that will satisfy ALL of our customers.
We have researched and found excellent biodegradable food serving containers, protecting our environment and doing our part to keep Abaco the beautiful place it is today.
We have chosen a wonderful location in Marsh Harbour with gorgeous views of the ocean and a cool place to sit under a tree while we hand craft your special meal!
Despite our best efforts at planning and preparing to ensure our business was ready to serve you, we have hit a difficult hurdle that we need your help to conquer.
The Marsh Harbour Township Committee has denied approval of our business. Despite our innovative plans and significant investment in the Marsh Harbour economy, we have been told that our business is not the kind of business that Marsh Harbour needs or wants.
We have all seen food takeaways, conch stands, roadside vendors and people serving meals from their car trunks, and while they are free to carry on business without objection and without being stopped, we are being denied.
We have purchased commercial-grade equipment, been formally trained in our craft, have an excellent healthy food preparation environment, and are creating new jobs for Bahamians, yet we are being rejected, and have been told our business “does not suit the ambiance of Marsh Harbour”.
After all we have accomplished, we are not giving up now. We are appealing the decision of the Marsh Harbour Township Committee but we need your help, and are asking you to do two things: please sign this petition, and please share it with all of your friends, especially those that live on Abaco.
If you can, also please leave comments and share why you think Abaco should embrace Zest so that we can get to work serving you incredible food.
We need your support to convince the Township Committee and everyone else that Zest is what the people of Abaco want!
Thank you, and we can’t wait to serve you!
