Hello, though I am only one person, I speak for the thousands, and perhaps millions of people who been impacted by the pandemic lockdowns of 2020. Millions of us, put our lives on pause, and trust in our state leaders to care for its people in an unprecedented time.  However, the effects of these desicions were brought to light by the 1.4 million people who had thier payments stopped by the California EDD. As the state unemployment department works to clear these payments, hundreds of thousands, who are in legitimate standing with thier unemployment claim, aren't being paid, have gone numerous weeks or months without payment, and/or accounts stuck in "pending" status with no reason why, no date of when the payments will clear, and no relief in sight. These are real people with real families that are suffering because of the problems at the California EDD and the state department. 

This is wrong and needs to stop. The California EDD must be held accountable and pay the pending! #paythepending

This petition is in response to the inaction of state's leadership to correct the problem. We've endured broken promises, phone lines with multi-hour long hold times, and weeks when callers cannot get through at all. The pandemic has caused hardship for everyone but the harsh realities now faced by good citizens because of the failures of the unemployement department must end now!
