I again thank each and every one of you for your willingness to add your name to this cause! You are all amazing!
Over the season break, the petition has lost a little bit of the flow we had going and I would like to attempt to bring it back up to the forefront. If you could help with again sharing the petition, videos and talk about the issues, it would go a long way in getting this cause back on the table and in front of the governing bodies.
Just before the season break, Greg Shyba from the Ann and Sandy Cross Conservation Area talked in a couple of videos about the lighting proposed to be implemented by the Alberta Government on the Southwest Calgary Ring Road and the impact it will have on both the wildlife and the Conservation Area. The conservation area is designated as a Dark Sky and Nocturnal Preserve and has a very good chance of those designations being impacted by the lighting proposed.
This lighting is having an impact on educational facilities, money and time invested, natural wildlife and environment sustainability. The lighting proposed by Alberta Transportation offers up nothing for a cheaper or safer means of lighting the roadway compared to what we suggest they adopt, but will have a financial impact and safety impact for years to come if allowed to be installed.
