Students of the class of 2020 have worked diligently throughout these past four years, expecting a formal graduation to close this chapter of their lives. However, due to the coronavirus epidemic, this event may no longer happen. Not only is this unfair to the students, but it is also disappointing for their parents, who also want to celebrate their children’s achievements. Some school districts have suggested a virtual graduation, but that is not even close to the same experience of an in-person graduation. It is understandable if the graduation cannot be held on the original date, but the students would rather postpone a formal graduation to a later time, rather than replace it with a virtual one. We the undersigned want to ensure that the class of 2020’s graduation is held as soon it is safe to do so.
