Once again, I presented our petition at the Council meeting this last Monday. I would like to thank the Council for patiently enduring my arguments. I will try to succinctly explain the vital points about where we are. First, the Council has determined that they have no legal control over the fire horn and that it is entirely a matter for Chief Neff. This is a point we may have to revisit down the road. Second, due to this conclusion, the Council has referred the matter to Chief Neff who is to consult with the Borough Manager, Mr. Flannery, and get back to the Council within 60 days with a solution which will work for the town. Unfortunately for us, the Chief is not impressed by our numbers and does not think the fire horn should be turned off. This leaves us in a moment of patient perseverance. I was hopeful that reason, which seems to be on our side, would win the day on its own. Maybe it will. Or, maybe, we too will have to wake a sleeping town to get something done.
