I wanted to give a quick update and send thanks to all of our newest supporters!  We are making progress with the petition thanks to each of you who add your signatures and those who choose to donate to help keep the petition in circulation to reach others.  We ask that you share the link with your family and friends to gain even more support for the increase of penalties for those who are convicted of vehicular homicide. We have been in touch with our Tennessee legislators and working with them to get these bills passed...

*House Bill- HB606 (Lamberth)
*Senate Bill- SB652 (Bowling)                                                                    Those convicted of vehicular homicide by intoxication to be sentenced at 100%, with no more than 15% sentence credits being allowed.

*House Bill- HB2656 (C. Sexton)
*Senate Bill-SB2248 (McNally)                                                                 Adds vehicular homicide by intoxication and aggravated vehicular homicide to a list of offenses that must be sentenced at 100% and served at 100% without any sentence credits. Meaning 12years = 12years

These bills are making their way through the committee meetings. HB2656 is headed to Finance Means where the bills are approved for funding. HB606 was held up last year because of funding as well. It will cost the State 2.9 million to make this happen because of the increased costs offenders are serving longer sentences. We plan to appear at the committee meetings to help get these bills passed. We appreciate everyone's continued support!
