Sesame Street Guest Appearance: Dr. Amy Houtrow

Sesame Street Guest Appearance: Dr. Amy Houtrow
The Issue
Dr. Amy Houtrow is a professor and Vice Chair in the Department of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation for Pediatric Rehabilitation Medicine at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. She is also the Vice Chair for Quality and Outcomes. She is the Chief of Pediatric Rehabilitation Medicine Services at the UPMC Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh (CHP). Her primary clinical interest is working with children with disabilities.
Complementing her clinical focus, Dr. Houtrow’s research focus is recognizing the impact raising children with disabilities has on families and developing channels to improve service delivery. She works closely with leaders in health services research around the country.
Dr. Houtrow is known for her lively spirit and ability to engage children (and adults) of all ages. She is the faculty member who has the most impressive Halloween costumes which she wears for her patients every year. There is not a situation that she can't make fun.
Dr. Houtrow would be an invaluable addition as a guest on Sesame Street. With her focus on disability advocacy, health equity, and social inclusion, she would have a widespread positive impact on children with and without disabilities across the country.
Thank you for your consideration and support!
