Small does not mean powerless. The small Beaumaris And Surrounding Communities - CSA Survivors And Families community group including our petitioners (you), and the Victorian Survivors and Supporters community group, are working with Sexual Assault Services Victoria, and the National Centre for Action on Child Sexual Abuse, to make a difference.
We're working hard to ensure that Australians and Australian governments, recognise the UN World Day for the Prevention of and Healing from Child Sexual Exploitation, Abuse and Violence on 18 November 2025.
“The World Day for the Prevention of and Healing from Child Sexual Exploitation, Abuse, and Violence is observed annually on November 18th. This day was officially recognized by the UN in 2022, aiming to raise awareness about the prevalence of child sexual violence and to mobilize action for prevention and healing.
The day is dedicated to:
Raising awareness:
Highlighting the pervasive nature of child sexual exploitation, abuse, and violence, both online and offline.
Promoting prevention:
Encouraging measures to prevent child sexual abuse and exploitation through education and other initiatives.
Supporting healing:
Emphasizing the importance of providing support and resources for survivors of child sexual abuse to heal and recover.
Holding perpetrators accountable:
Addressing weaknesses in protection systems and holding individuals and institutions accountable for perpetrating violence against children.”
How our two small community groups are helping
Our supporters and community members have let us know, that this UN day of recognition is very important to them.
That what this day seeks to achieve, is very important.
And their expectation is that Australian governments should recognise this day. Not just by supporting activities to highlight it, but by communicating what they are doing, and plan to do. Actions that, regarding Child Sexual Exploitation, Abuse and Violence:
- supports raising awareness,
- promoting prevention,
- supporting healing and
- holding perpetrators accountable.
Highlighting the day

To shine a light on child sexual abuse.

Why this matters to the outcomes our petition seeks
The outcomes our petition seeks, would increase early access to the health, wellbeing, social and justice services needed by survivors, their families and communities. The outcomes our petition seeks would contribute to two outcomes the UN Day highlights:
- supporting healing and
- holding perpetrators accountable.
