The Beaumaris And Surrounding Communities - CSA Survivors And Families group have been asking the Victorian government to be more transparent and detailed. In the progress made on the implementation of the nine recommendations of the Board of Inquiry into historical child sexual abuse in Beaumaris Primary School and certain other government schools.
The Government's current reporting:
https://www.vic.gov.au/board-of-inquiry#progress-update
- Fails to report progress for each of the nine recommendations - work completed, work to be completed
- Fails to communicate the planned implementation date for each recommendation
- Fails to report progress made - percentage of work completed - for each recommendation
Our last email calling for the reporting to be more transparent, detailed and meaningful, was deleted before reading, by the staff of the Victorian Minister for Education, The Hon. Ben Carroll, who also happens to be the Deputy Premier of Victoria.
This is truly a new level of of indifference and contempt, for something the Department of Education is a key stakeholder. Ensuring every recommendation of the nine recommendations of the Board of Inquiry into historical child sexual abuse in Beaumaris Primary School and certain other government schools, are implemented in full.
We will now start phoning Minister Carroll's office, requesting a meeting. To ensure all the stories survivors, classmates and families shared with the Beaumaris Board of Inquiry, are honoured and respected.
