The LOUD fence movement championed by the Beaumaris and Surrounding Communities - CSA Survivors and Families group, and LOUD fence inc. in Bayside Melbourne, continues to grow. On Sunday 1 May 2022, The Danny Frawley Centre at St Kilda Football Club, Beaumaris Primary School, Beaumaris North Primary School, and Haileybury College-Castlefield in Brighton supported the tying of coloured ribbons on their fences.
On the first Sunday in May this year, 7th May 2023, from 11 AM the local community will again tie ribbons at those locations, and this year include the site of what was Sandringham Technical College, now the senior campus of Sandringham College at 11 Holloway Rd, Sandringham, and Haileybury College in Keysborough.
We are continuing to communicate with Freemasons Victoria, who to-date have not supported the creation of LOUD fences at any of their Melbourne properties.
Last year's LOUD fences were consequential for so many people. It enabled many survivors to find their voice, connect with others, and take individual and collective action. It enabled mourning the loss of those victims of child sexual abuse whom are no longer with us. It enabled a greater public recognition of the scale and impact of historic, systemic child sexual abuse in Bayside Melbourne, through media coverage, including the article in this post's image.
LOUD fences also brought together the communities of Ballarat and Bayside Melbourne to organise the well attended and important bi-monthly lunches now being held for all Victorian survivors and supporters. Facebook link for information on Victorian survivors and supporters lunches and gathering:
