We recently received an acknowledgement from the Office of the Hon. Enver Erdogen MLC, of our request for him to meet with petition organisers, supporters and relevant peak bodies and stakeholders to discuss what piloting 'no wrong door' for the communities of Ballarat and Bayside Melbourne would mean for victim/survivors of historic child sexual abuse, their families and communities. Yesterday the office of Mr. Tim Richardson, Parliamentary Secretary for Health Infrastructure and Parliamentary Secretary for Mental Health and Suicide Prevention, also acknowledged the importance of the outcomes our petition seeks, and let us know they have forwarded this acknowledgement and our request to meet, to the office of the Minister of Health.
This is real progress.
Acknowledgement of the importance of what we are seeking (the 'why') brings us a step closer to an opportunity for survivors, families, community service providers, peak bodies and experts, to have meaningful conversations with relevant Victorian government ministers and representatives, about the 'what' and the 'how'.
Thank you to all our supporters, we will keep you updated on any progress we make to achieve the outcomes our petition seek!
