Our voice is making louder, those many voices and reports already raised with the Victorian government, advocating for the integration of service systems based on the principle of no wrong door. The Victorian government itself has been advocating for a no wrong door approach to all mental health services since 2007. But unlike the NSW government, it has yet to invest in the implementation of an integrated service systems framework that would make it a reality. A reality that would improve the accessibility, and therefore the effectiveness, of mental health services for every Victorian, including for survivors of childhood sexual abuse.  Whom face very significant barriers to disclosure and therefore access to, vital specialist services and supports.

Those voices advocating for no wrong door include (but aren't limited to) in order of recency:

  • Australian National Mental Health Commission, The National Children’s Mental Health and Wellbeing Strategy, October 2021.
  • Sexual Assault Services Victoria submission to the Victorian Law Reform Commission: Improving the Response of the Justice System to Sexual Offences, December 2020.
  • Victorian survivors of childhood sexual abuse engaged by the Federal Government, Department of Social Services. National Centre for the Prevention of Child Sexual Abuse Stakeholder Consultation Report  August 2020.
  • Mental Health, Australian Productivity Commission Inquiry Report, 30 June 2020.
  • Blue Knot Foundation, Beyond Blue, Orygen, Joint submission - Mind, Wellways, Sane Australia and Neami National, Anglicare, Relationships Australia, Reachout Australia, National LGTBI Health Alliance, Mental Health Commission NSW, Royal Australasian College of General Practitioners, headspace, Victorian Drug and Alcohol Drug Association, Victorian Council of Social Services, National Rural Health Alliance, Mental Health Carers Australia, and Community Mental Health Australia submissions to the Productivity Commission’s on Mental Health, February 2020

  • The Final Report, Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse, Recommendation 9.1, increasing the accessibility of specialist services through integration, collaboration, and case management,15 December 2017.
  • Australian Psychological Society, submission to the Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse, November 2015.
