Serramonte Shopping Center has had a Koi Pond as it’s center attraction of the mall for years. The condition of it is disgusting and unacceptable. The water is polluted with trash and a plethora of old, dirty, rusted up coins. Which of course is normal in any old fountain but  TURTLES AND KOI FISH ARE LIVING IN IT. It’s so depressing watching the turtles and little fish struggle to swim in that filth. Not only is it revolting to look at, it’s ANIMAL CRUELTY how long they’ve been letting them live in those conditions because it’s been like this for years and it’s just gotten worse over time. They don’t even have security watching that area, I saw a little kid stick his whole foot in the pond while trying to kick a turtle. I saw another child attempting to hit the Koi fish with coins.

What’s worse is they’re focusing all their money and efforts into expanding the mall but it doesn’t look like they have the time nor resources to manage and care for what they ALREADY have. Some people may think they’re just fish and turtles so who cares. But you SHOULD care. Animals are meant to be appreciated, not tortured and treated so carelessly like cheap decorations. They deserve to live in acceptable conditions and with good people or an organized, thoughtful establishment that has the time to care for them they way they deserve to be cared for. 

Bottom line Serramonte, clean up your Koi Pond and care for these animals. If you don’t have the ability or time to do so then give them to someone who can.
