Enough is enough. The time to invest in flood and disaster resilience for South East Queensland is right now. 

Current ineffective reactive disaster relief strategies have seen thousands of people left homeless, wildlife lost, and businesses destroyed after the 2022 flooding catastrophe in SEQ.

While recovery efforts were still ongoing, further heavy rain and damaging weather in May left more than 550 roads across the state cut off by flooding and multiple people stranded, requiring evacuation once again. A stark reminder that SEQ is not prepared to handle the impacts of climate change. 

To create disaster resilient regions, we must proactively invest in on-ground projects that reduce flood risk/increase resilience and enhance waterways and landscapes, rather than governments simply pouring millions into clean up and recovery after the event.

With your support, we can push the strong case for a proactive $27.5 million annual investment into life-saving, proactive resilience solutions required to save SEQ. We can take this case to all levels of government and show industry how they can show their sustainability and ethical investing credentials by being part of the solution.
